Username & Email

As with any collaborative software you first need to make an account before you can contribute. As you might have noticed, Deternet has split its different sectors in different Bookstack instances for simplicity. In this way users can completely focus on one thing without being distracted with information they don't necessarily need in that moment.

Now, this does also mean if you want to contribute to multiple instances that you need to create multiple accounts for each instance. Therefore, it is recommended to

  • Use the same username and email amongst instances s.t credibility transfers between instances.

Also, our moderators will then be able to give you the same editing privileges you had on the other instances. For this theto work username and email must be the same

Changing Email

Now, it is possible to change your username after the creation of your account since emails well they can obviously change over time. However, if you do this then please inform us about it, to prevent impersonation of your account.

You can inform us by sending an email with your old email address and new email address to [email protected]. Because you could send an email with your old email address it will prove that you own the account and not someone else.

Security

Now, maybe this function will appear in some future releases since there is a great deal of discussion for this feature at the Codeberg Bookstack Repository. As users have stated clearly that for a shared knowledge base to work

Shared knowledge bases: Contributors can suggest changes without immediately replacing information that others currently rely on.
