Configuration

Bucket Creation

Now, that you have setup your RustFS instance and are logged in with a new user account you can start creating your buckets that you can use for other applications to store data in.

  1. Go to Browser
  2. Then click on + Create Bucket
  3. Give it a name

Access Keys

After you have created a bucket you should create access keys credentials that will allow you to access the buckets through one of your applications.

  1. Go to Access Keys
  2. Create a new Key pair
  3. Make sure you save the file or the secret key in Bitwarden or any other password manager

Bucket Information File

So after you have created a bucket and you have set up an access key then you are ready to attach it to an application. By default it can ask for the following credentials

S3 Endpoint: This is your HTTPS domain name in the case of a public instance or IP-RustFSVM:9001

Region: If you have only one location than you can leave this blank

Bucket Name: Well the Bucket name

Directory: This is directory inside the bucket if you have setup directories in there. Otherwise just use root which is provided with the / symbol

Access Key: That is the access key you created

Secrety Key: The secret key you created and obtained while making the access key

All of these are the ones you can possibly fill in for your environment variables in your docker compose file or directly through the WebUI if the applications allows for it.
